Sophie Fatu Continues to Shine Years After Viral 'America's Got Talent' Audition - Talent Recap (5)NBC

Jazz singer Sophie Fatu auditioned for America’s Got Talent in Season 13 as an adorable 5-year-old. She made history as the youngest contestant to ever appear on the show. Her performance of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” has led to a tremendous singing and acting career for the now 8-year-old.


The audience and the judges were completely captivated by how cute Sophie was when she stepped out onto the AGT stage in 2018. She could not believe how many people were going to see her perform. She made previous appearances on Little Big Shots and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Simon Cowell loved her performance but was more interested in Sophie being his son Eric’s girlfriend.

Sophie’s performance of “New York, New York” in the Judge Cuts led to an adorable moment with Eric who had been visiting the set. Eric ran away embarrassed by the whole situation. Her AGT audition now has over 46 million views. In April 2020, Sofie’s Instagram run by her mother Vicky, posted that she is still waiting for a call from Eric.

Sophie Fatu Releases Original Music After Stealing the Judges Hearts on ‘AGT’

After finding fame on AGT, Sophie performed with fellow contestant Sal Valentinetti at Westbury Theater in New York in 2019. She sang a couple of holiday classics. She also released a highly requested cover and music video for “You’ll Be Back” from Hamilton. Sophie’s YouTube channel now has over 81 million total views after posting lively song covers from a variety of genres.


In 2019, Sophie released her EP calledLove is… which was recorded at Capitol Studios, the same studio used by Frank Sinatra.An accompanying documentary about creating the EP was posted on YouTube. She was 6 years old when she recorded the EP. This makes her the youngest artist to ever record at Capitol Studios.

The release of Love is… was actually due delayed a few days after a cyber attack led to her Facebook page being deleted. She recorded it with Chuck Berghofer who recorded and toured with Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Peggy Lee, and Ray Charles. Love is… features six songs that pay tribute to some of Sophie’s biggest vocal influences and she sounds awesome on every single song.

Sophie Also Started a Successful Acting Career

Sophie hasn’t just mastered the art of singing jazz classics. She has also established an acting career. She was on was on Will & Grace in 2020 playing the role of Will’s daughter. The pint-sized star appeared in a Big Lots holiday commercial in November 2019. She landed her first Barbie commercial for the magical lights unicorn toy in 2019. She later starred in a second Barbie Commercial.


In June 2020, Sophie recorded ADR for the feature film Last Looks that she is in alongside Mel Gibson and Charlie Hunnam. She performed a beautiful cover of “The Prayer” in late January of 2021 with her vocal coach Cody Jay. Sophie also released the music video for a cover of “Goody Goody” by Frankie Lymon. She gave off major Shirley Temple vibes in this energetic video.

In April, Sophie performed as a special guest on the Not-Too Late Show on Sesame Street with Elmo. She even got a cookie from Cookie Monster himself. Sophie shared behind-the-scenes content working with her vocal coach to perfect her song “Reckless Love.” Sophie finally released the beach-themed music video for the highly-anticipated song in June.

Sophie hasn’t stopped working hard since her time on AGT. She just started third grade but has accomplished more in her career than most performers her age. Big things are on the horizon for this young AGT talent and we can’t wait to see what she does next.
