We are committed to promoting responsible pet ownership, preventative health care and health-related educational opportunities for our clients. We are open Monday thru Saturday from 7am - Midnight and emergency only after midnight and Sunday. My grandmother was concerned about her rescue porch kitty so she took her to Rehm (Hillcrest) as it was the nearest vet open on a Sunday. Before taking the cat in, my grandmother explained she was a widow on a fixed income and they assured her they would “take care of her”. The kitty was diagnosed with constipation and given an enema- they suspect she ate a mouse. They didn’t give my grandmother the opportunity to come get her that day, they kept the cat overnight without explaining the additional cost. Today she was hit with a $1000 bill... to treat constipation. Ridiculous. She wasn’t asked for authorization to proceed with treatment at that cost or given any updates on what it would all add up to either, and she was actually scolded by the girl up front for not having a carrier for her porch rescue cat. We will never be back there again, and we hope to prevent others from the same experience by sharing. If it’s a $1000 to give an enema to a cat that ate a mouse, I would hate to find out what they charge to treat truly sick animals. Terrible staff that takes advantage of the elderly! Incompetent young vet which gave my dog Petey the wrong treatment of fluids (subcutaneous) and not the I.V. type which he has had before (at my regular vet) on Mardi gras night. Didnt do any other tests or thorough exam and the fluids killed him the next morning on Valentine's day. No one called at all to check on his condition. True classic case of cash grab vet office if there was ever one. I also dare Rehm to have this review removed. Read Less

This is way overdue. Last November we had a Pit Bull show up on our doorstep. He was in horrible shape with multiple new and old wounds. His body covered with cuts and abrasions and suffering from a broken hip. After weeks of working with an out of state rescue group and animal hospital he developed necrosis in the area of the stitches from being neutered.We were preparing a late dinner when the bleeding started at 11 PM. We're talking cups of blood coming out. There would be no time to make the 1.5+ hour transit to the out of state hospital. He would have bled out. We had never used Rehm but they were close by, had a doctor in the office and I honestly doubt we could have ended up in better hands. Dr Shine and his trusty assistant Andrea met us at the door. While she worked with my wife to get the info Dr. Shine started working his magic. After saving the dog’s life they worked with us on a treatment plan that we could afford. We were impressed by their professionalism, bedside manners and willingness to work with us on alternative pricing/care options.Prices: In this instance I really can't talk to price, it was late and they were the first ones we got hold of. We have not used other hospitals in the area for emergency services. It certainly did not seem out of line for the work performed considering the quality.And then....about 6 weeks ago our small dog started having seizures, coughing and all around craziness. Once again it was later in the evening. After a quick call to confirm the dream team was available we rushed Baby Girl to the Hillcrest Rehm facility. And once again Andrea and staff displayed genuine concern for our baby and Dr Shine possessed the mad skills to remedy her ailments.We moved here about a year ago and up till now have been using different vets for regular checkups, shots, etc. Due to Dr Shine and Andrea we will now use Rehm for all our vets need. I will say they are a bit more for the yearly checkup and shots than some others but I love that warm and fuzzy feeling. Read Less

I made an appointment for my pet to be fixed and fixed only and I asked on the phone several times the cost and they told me. Then when I get there it’s $250 more than I was expecting to pay. So I wasted my time and their time on an appointment for absolutely nothing. Front desk needs to know what to tell clients. One person I spoke with told me not to let my cat eat after 8pm and the other told me 10pm for the surgery. Maybe a good vet in case of an emergency but I won’t be returning. Read Less

I love this clinic! I am crazy about my cats and I am dedicated to providing them with the best care available . When they need vaccines, a check-up, or a spay/neuter, I totally trust Rehm to do the job safely, responsibly, and without breaking the bank.Everyone in the office is polite and professional. The facility is clean and smells fresh. The ladies there always hold my cat carefully and treat him with respect. Let's be honest, pets are expensive!! They give us unconditional love, and we pay out the wazoo to keep them healthy. A visit to the vet is always going to be pricey. Dr. Chris and his staff saved my two 8 month old toy poodle puppies from a certain death while I was visiting Mobile on Labor Day weekend. I cannot say enough about how professional, kind and considerate they were. Even down to Dr. Chris calling to make sure I follow up with my own Vet after I returned home to MS. I made the mistake of not calling multiple vets, or getting a good referral from a friend. I was upsold on unneeded medicine on the phone trying to set an appointment, and at the office during drop off, and again when I went to pick up my pup. They even tried to sell me on "pulling a problem tooth." That same "problem tooth" came out on a rope toy five minutes after getting home... not much of a problem, and definitely not worth the upcharge they tried to tack on.I dropped of my pup at 8:00am and her spay was done by 10:30, but they didn't call me until 5:00pm giving me 30 minutes to get there before they closed. When I go to pick her up, they say that she was very vocal and in a lot of pain convincing me to pay for a pain prescription before seeing her. When she came around the corner it was all wags and smiles, and both of us just wanted to get out of there. The procedure was done well, but I don't like the high-pressure sales tactics used by the staff. I have never felt less at ease at a vet clinic. Read Less

Buck was a frequent visitor to Rehm, and in particular Dr. Chris, while battling cancer. Dr. Mike got him safely through 2 surgeries, and was always realistic with me about what we were facing and my options. At the same time he was compassionate, and I always felt like he truly cared about both my dog and myself. The staff there understands that for many of us, pets are family. I'll never forget one of the techs being a literal shoulder to cry on when things didn't look so good. When we knew Buck wasn't going to be cured, I moved out of the area to be with family; thanks to Dr. Chris, Buck had some of the best months he'd had in years before we finally had to let him go in September. I'll always be grateful for the time and quality of life Buck was able to enjoy thanks to his care. Read Less

I am so thankful that this clinic has evening hours. I don't know what we would have done without it. Everyone was so friendly, professional, and calm during our emergency. The speed at which they let us in and took my cat back to make sure he was okay was impressive. They made sure to update me on his condition frequently, and that meant the world to me. As a side note, I also appreciate that they were able to get a blood sample without having to shave his neck for access. Having him looking normal once he got better really helped me feel better too. We have been using Rehm at Hillcrest for over a year now! We have 3 dogs and the vets and staff treat them like they are their own! We have never been disappointed in the services provided at Rehm, and have been able to get right in when needed and for emergency situations. The staff is caring and passionate. We love Dr. Carney! She is AMAZING! Highly recommend using her as a vet. Our youngest pup gets nervous around new people, and he is a completely different dog there. He hugs and loves on everyone at the clinic. As an Auburn grad, trusting an AU vet school graduate is easy !!My Cooper has a few issues, but everyone from office staff, to vet techs, to Dr. Caroline and Dr. Elizabeth are so wonderful. My baby is staying healthy and gets the help he needs, when he needs it quickly. I've used both the Hillcrest and Schillinger Rd. location. Great service at both locations. So you expect a glitch or two but here's what we dealt with over two years (and feel free to skip to the end for the final kick in the teeth.)1. Associate vet (as in One with a Last Name that isn't Rehm) was asked for resources in reporting a business involved in animal neglect/cruelty. (We were new in the area and going through the painful process of finding good providers.) Vet said she'd get back to us and have someone call. Never happened. On recheck visit, was lucky enough to get a Rehm who immediately provided names and numbers.2. Boarded our dogs for two weeks while we were dealing with surgery. Discovered two of them had bordatella for the first time in their lives despite supposedly getting the vaccines every six months. RehmVet acknowledged the problem and treated without charge. Needed additional course of antibiotics (as he explained might happen) and non-RehmVet (as in not named Rehm) attempted to reverse RehmVet's agreement to provide meds free since it happened on their watch.3. Brother dying in Tampa so needed to board animals. (If you're asking why we decided to use a cheese grater as a playground slide again, it's because Rehm is the only place with large in/outside runs instead of cages.) Picked animals up a week later and since the groomer had a family emergency, the boarding techs (or whatever they're called) were supposed to give the dogs a bath. The good news is that some at least smelled as though they'd been gone over with a good brand of baby wipe. Others had stringy, severely matted hair and were in much worse condition than when brought in. One had developed an allergy and had solidified eye goo coating her muzzle and forehead and a 3" string of goo dripping from her eye. When I pointed it out to the youngster who brought me the dog, he used his thumb to smear it into her hair. And when the matted hair was pointed out, they offered to take the dog in the back and fix the situation. They did. By cutting chunks out of her feathers and chest. When I attempted to talk with the front desk female, there were two repeated responses: 'It rained' and 'But I saw them wash the dogs yesterday!' Really? And manned the front desk, answered phones, scheduled clients, juggled pitchforks, all while doing your nails?4. Observed extremely rude treatment when new clients were in shock at the amount due at the end of a visit. Front desk female: 'That's what the price is and that's what you owe. If you can't afford it, you should have said something ahead of time.'5. Almost forgot, one of our dogs urped something pink up when we were outside the clinic just prior to boarding. (She doesn't travel well.) I wanted to make sure it wasn't blood or some other issue so I picked it up in a clean ziploc bag and asked that the vet take a look at it. That way if the dog needed an additional exam she would have something extra to work with. I asked that someone call the next day to let me know the result. No one called. I called late the next day. No one looked at the pink urp: they just assumed the problem was worms and started ALL the dogs on meds.Trust me, since I do poop patrol daily at home, if they have something, I'll know it.AND NOW TO THE KICKER:6. Today I attempted to make boarding arrangements. They had room but I was told to wait for a callback while they 'tried to move things around.' An hour or so later came the call that The Owner (pick a Rehm, any Rehm) had notes on our account that we were not to be allowed to board animals. Turns out they didn't appreciate being told about the series of problems at the clinic. Nothing like shooting the messenger. Strange, since in person the RehmVet who's occasionally at Loxley didn't seem to take it personally. I guess Big Brother Rehm is the one with the webbed feet of clay.Ah, well. They're running a business so why not eliminate the clients who ask for a moment of their time when things go awry? Read Less

My family has been using Rehm's for almost 10 years now. We have always been satisfied customers and have never complained about any services received. We are a multiple dog family and at one point we even had 3 dogs that received care at this clinic. We travel a lot and can't always take our pups so we choose to board them at Rehm when we can't care for them ourselves. Well, this past weekend we went out of town for a family celebration. Unfortunately, our lodging was not pet friendly so like always, we made reservations to board them at Rehm. We weren't expecting to be home until Monday but due to changes in weather we came home early Sunday morning. I called the clinic around noon to let them know I would be there shortly to pick up my pups. They told me it was emergency only and no pick-ups were allowed. This has never been the case for us on a Sunday. Anyway, after a brief conversation, this worker was firm about not letting me pick up my dogs until after 2 the following day. I am very disappointed that 1) My dogs were alone in their kennels during an extreme thunderstorm that flooded our area. 2) I was less than a mile away for over 24 hours and I was not permitted to pick up my dogs. 3) I was charged twice for a nights stay (per dog) when I was less than a mile away for over 24 hours, bringing the total bill to $300+. 4) My dogs came home completely unable to bark because they lost their voices during boarding.5) There was someone there to answer the phone but not willing to let me pick up my dogs during extreme weather.6) When I dropped off my dogs, the office staff asked me the same 21 questions they asked when I called to make the reservation. Communication is key. Like I said, I have never had any problems until now. One of my dogs occasionally takes anxiety medication and did not receive it during the storm. Everything about this weekends stay irritates me and I feel it could have been handled differently. Very disappointed in the staff this time. If there is a next time, I hope they are more compassionate and not focused on making another dollar. Read Less

Love them! I live outside town and I used to go to Theodore Vet and this is no reflection on them, but their hours are very limited. I switched to Rehm not because I didn't like Theodore Vet, but because Rehm's hours better suit our lifestyle. They are open late and they take walk-ins, which I love.My first experience was with Caroline. My dog was sick and I needed to take her in, what would have been after hours had it been another vet. Caroline was so sweet, so understanding and she took very good care of my dog, who is my life. Because of Caroline's empathy and when I realized it wasn't after hours for them, I made the decision to switch.Caroline went on maternity leave, and so Michael has been taking care of us. Michael is very much like Caroline. He is also a good listener and caring as well. I feel fully comfortable trusting their word.The prices are a bit steep, but they're pretty equal to Theodore's, if not a little less, depending on what they're doing. Their office visit is $4 more than Theodore's, but for me the convenience and continuity is worth the four bucks.All in all I highly recommend them. Read Less
