Fallout 76: 10 Best Camp Locations (2024)

Camping is fun, it can be a relaxing time for family or friends together away from technology to spend some quality time and be together. Camping in a post-apostolic world, on the other hand, is a little more challenging. You have to think of resources and what you need; it’s not just going somewhere to set up a tent — it's life or death.

Below we’ve included locations that are not only beneficial to your Fallout 76 gameplay but that are fun and beautiful as well. Just because you live in a wasteland, that doesn’t mean you don’t deserve nice things, too!!

10 Junk Camp, Savage Divide

Fallout 76: 10 Best Camp Locations (1)

Located next to West Tek, giving you not only the ability to farm junk as much as you want but getting you close to a great grinding area. West Tek can give you steel from Super Mutants, almost as an endless supply.

However, that does leave you at easy attacks by Super Mutants, which you need to prepare for. The location itself is great otherwise — but it’s last on our list because of the rampant attacks by Super Mutants. But, again, they provide endless junk to salvage as you please. Due to the Super Mutants, it’s not higher on our list, but it’s still one of our favorite spots to set up camp!

9 Gilman Lumber Mill, The Forest

Fallout 76: 10 Best Camp Locations (2)

Located in Appalachia's Forest, hidden away from society, is Gilman Lumber Mill. Not only is it already pretty much built, but there's also a fence around it that offers protection right from the start — though you will want to reinforce that yourself.

There are also no major enemies nearby, and it's a great starter base or one you can make your home forever. Being safe from most enemies, at least big ones (still, mind the zombies or raiders now and then), it’s an ideal location to at least start at. With flat areas to build on and a supply of free wood, who could argue with Gilman's Mill?

8 Seneca Rocks, Savage Divide

Fallout 76: 10 Best Camp Locations (3)

This hamlet can be found near Pleasant Valley Cabins, atop the beautiful Seneca Rocks. With a picturesque view, this remote area is ideal for camping, even before the nukes! There are plenty of post-war bonuses as well, though. It's pretty easy to defend, being as remote as it is and how up high the location sits, as well as the rocking climb makes it decently safe from attacks. It also has a lot of access to free water, which is always a plus!

Other than all of that, the scenery is amazing. The peeks of rocks and trees make it so for a lovely view. It's also an amazing find mid-game! Better than most starter hints and advice, but still not number one — Seneca Rocks offers amazing features if you dare to look.

7 Copper and Iron Camp, The Forest

Fallout 76: 10 Best Camp Locations (4)

If it's copper and or iron you need, this camp is for you! While located by a for-now peaceful raider settlement, this location offers loads of fun and excitement. You can reload and grid raiders, plus the obvious bounty of copper and iron.

It is, unfortunately, quite sought after. Located by Vault 76, this camp lets you hit copper and iron nodes left and right- but it may be hard to snag in multiplayer. Still a scenic route, it's a spot to try and get, and once gotten, it's the one you should hold on to. If someone else’s camp is too close, you might lose it, so keep your mind on that.

6 Morgantown Trainyard, The Forest

Fallout 76: 10 Best Camp Locations (5)

Found nestled to the East of Gorge Junnkard, Morgantown Trainyard is a great spot to put down stakes and make a living. Found in a quest, this location is perfect to set up for a camp — temporary or permanent, this area is a great place to stay.

Besides that, the layout provides plenty of warehouses and towers to savage for supplies. Not only is it brimming with loot, but you can find a power arm station as well! The area is beautiful, and building a camp here would not only be beneficial but can provide safety and comfort as well.

5 The Noose Tree, Toxic Valley

Fallout 76: 10 Best Camp Locations (6)

With a flat terrain to build on, plenty of resources nearby and easy access to quests or other locations, The Noose Tree camp is a great pick. This location can be found on the western border of Toxic Valley, between The Crosshair and Clancy Manor.

While the tree and its noose may be understandably offputting to some, or even quite upsetting, it still has plenty of great qualities going for it. There's ample space to build your camp, including dirt and soil, should you want to have a farm. It's also close to key locations, making coming home from missions that much easier, so long as you don’t mind home, including a hanging tree.

4 Lake on Thunder Mountain, The Mire

Fallout 76: 10 Best Camp Locations (7)

A perfect location for late-game missions, the lake on the top of Thunder Mountain is already a great pick. Other perks besides its easy access to activities later in the game, this lake provides an incredible view and is unexpectedly peaceful, with next to no enemy spawns in the area.

Found in The Mire, just east of the EL-B1-02 Relay Tower, Thunder Mountain's lake provides more than just the obvious water resource. There's ample access to dirt, and the lake is shallow enough that you can build in the water itself, making it ideal for farming crops with ease. There’s also plenty of space to create any style camp you desire.

3 Mole Miner Tunnel, Savage Divide

Fallout 76: 10 Best Camp Locations (8)

While not having any immediate water access, the hilltop near the Mole Miner Tunnel is an ideal place to set up camp. Located between the Sunnytop Station and The Winding Path, this location has the advantage of high-ground defense and a lead deposit to extract from. It's also close to a train yard, giving even more benefits to this camp!

The nearby mining tunnels have a couple of mole miners and mole rats that you can get some experience points from, and enemy spawns are common enough to be fun but not overwhelming. With the camping being on the high ground, it wouldn’t matter much if the spawns were nonstop — you can easily defend your camp from almost anything.

2 EL-B1-02 Relay Tower, Savage Divide

Fallout 76: 10 Best Camp Locations (9)

With water, food, and other resources, this location is perfect for any camp! Not only is it secluded, but it's convenient to defend, as it's half surrounded by a cliff, leaving only one direction you need to defend. Another plus is the ground is almost totally flat, making building your camp an easy task. With an extraction site nearby, resources are also a breeze with this camp!

Surrounded by fallen trees and resourceful plants, such as firecracker berries, this camp actually sits slightly East of the EL-B1-02 Relay Tower itself and can be found just outside of Watoga on the cliffside.

1 Hemlock Holes, Toxic Valley

Fallout 76: 10 Best Camp Locations (10)

Once a premiere golf course, Hemlock Holes is now home to the Raiders Shack. An incredibly secluded location and most players miss the area easily. This makes it even better to build a camp, as you won't have to worry too much about multiplayer games deleting your camp if someone else is already there.

With an already existing Tinker's Bench and cooking pot, this camp location provides plenty of great selling points. It's a good travel point to other locations, has another shelter nearby if you get pinned down by enemies, and plenty of Raider's loot — it even has a bed! Be mindful, though, Super Mutants can sometimes spawn nearby, so place a few turrets and grab your best gun- defense is relatively easy and wildly fun!
